This game mechanic had shown a lot of promise in all of the play testing we had done. It lingered as a project for a while, as we struggled to find the correct monetization strategy for it. When it was shown to our apple rep we got a pretty resounding "meh". I was then handed the project and told that I had to reinvent the game and make something that would get featured on the front page of the app store and I had 3 months to do it.
I had to start from scratch and make a game that would get a prominent featuring in three months that Apple already didn't like. It was pretty daunting, but luckily I had an amazing team and a great, innovative mechanic. We wound up making something that I think is pretty great that succeeded on everything we set out to do. I hope you think so too!
